Curtis Metzger announces resignation as Strasburg football coach

STRASBURG, Ohio - Curtis Metzger is stepping down as Strasburg-Franklin High School's head football coach.

"With the change in direction of the school and [their] outlook and views of the Strasburg Football program being completely different [than] mine. I feel it is in my best interest to step away from the program," Metzger stated in a Facebook post. "Me stepping away has nothing to do with the players that I got the pleasure to be around each day and I hope each of you understand it."

Metzger, a former Strasburg player who graduated in 2008, resigns after spending four seasons heading the Tigers' program, compiling a win-loss record of 6-31 (1-15 in Inter-Valley Conference play).

"I know we didn’t see the wins come as quickly as some would have liked," Metzger added. "But I truly feel, that this past season especially, we were seeing the results of the [players'] hard work, consistency, and the culture we have been striving for. It has become obvious that the measure I have for that success and the administration’s are no longer the same."

Metzger also thanked "everyone that has helped and showed support for the football program in my years here."
