Ohio Department of Ag: Beef calf that died after train derailment showed no signs on chemical exposure

As East Palestine residents remain with questions nearly a month after a Norfolk Southern train derailed in the small Ohio town, the Ohio Department of Agriculture is currently conducting necropsies on animals.

A necropsy is an autopsy for animals.

According to the Department of Ag, tests were ran on a six-week-old beef calf that died on Feb. 11 - eight days after the train derailment.

The necropsy reports showed no "outward evidence of chemical irritation or exposure" due to the derailment.

The Department of Ag noted that a specific cause of death was not determined, but nothing supports claims that the calf died due to chemical toxicity.
